Itinerary: A Weekend in Jackson (2 Days)

A two day tour of Jackson Hole is not nearly enough time to really “experience” the area, but we know too well that with limited time and limited budgets, two days might be all you have. We'll assume that you've “done” the parks; hopefully spending at least one day in Yellowstone and one day in the Grand Tetons (see our Parks Suggested Itinerary).

Pricing Key: $ ($1 to $25) | $$ ($25-$50) | $$$ ($50-$100) | $$$$ (over $100)

Getting Here

If you are driving down from Grand Teton National Park, make sure to drive the Moose-Wilson road (partially gravel) that links Moose, Wyoming (the southern entrance) to Teton Village (the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort). This road is great for viewing wildlife, especially in the early mornings or evenings.

Hiking

Goodwin Lake (Moderate, 5 miles round trip) is a great hike close to the town of Jackson Hole that reaches a pretty lake at the base of Jackson Peak. Frequented by locals, but not many out-of-towners, Goodwin Lake is located east of town at the base of Jackson Peak. To access the trail, drive northeast of Jackson along the Elk Refuge Road until you reach Curtis Canyon road. Follow this gravel and bumpy road to the trailhead.

Guided Hiking Trips are available on other valley trails.

Mountain Biking

Rent a bike from one of the local Bike Shops. Make sure to grab a guidebook or map as well (available at most bike shops) and try out one of the many fun single-track trails up Cache Creek.
