Jackson Hole provides a wonderful setting to introduce kids to nature and the Wild West. Discover many indoor and outdoor activities and attractions that are great for all ages, including everything from short hikes to viewing wildlife to horseback rides to alpine slide rides.

Lodging and Tour Reservations

Summer is busy in Jackson, Wyoming, so make sure to book lodging far in advance. Find tons of Jackson Hole Lodging Options like hotels, resorts, cabins, B&B's, and campgrounds. Many activities can be scheduled once you arrive in Jackson but it is still a good idea to book ahead for outings like Whitewater Rafting, Chuckwagon Dinners, and Wildlife Tours.

Grand Teton National Park

Dedicate at least one day to exploring Grand Teton National Park. Start off with a visit to the park's Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center in Moose Wyoming (kids can pick up ranger packets at the center or download one here). Then take a short boat ride across Jenny Lake and an easy hike to the huge Hidden Falls (continue on to Inspiration Point for great views if kids have more energy). Enjoy a picnic lunch on the shores of String Lake, a great swimming hole on hot summer days. Keep watch for wildlife in a few key locations like Oxbow Bend, Antelope Flats, and Moose-Wilson Road.

$30 entrance fee per vehicle – good for 7 days.

Whitewater Rafting and Scenic Float Trips

Take your pick from whitewater trips down the Snake River Canyon, scenic float trips through Grand Teton National Park, and scenic floats through wilderness areas just south of the park. All trips can be combined with a riverside lunch or dinner. Age minimum: 6.

Bike Rides

Rent a couple of bikes and ride along Jackson's paved trail system, in the national park, or along a number of dirt trails. Bike shops offer bike (and carriage) rentals.

Horseback Ride

Kids will love horseback riding through the mountains that surround Jackson. Two hour rides are probably the best option for families and kids.

Enjoy a Tram Ride to the top of Rendezvous Mountain, towering above the valley at 10,919 feet and offering great views in every direction. Kids will love looking out the tram windows as you gain elevation.

Town Square Shootout

At 6pm head to the Town Shootout on the Square, an ongoing summer event that takes place every night from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The show is a fun theatrical performance, involving Wild West characters such as outlaws and officers.

Mountain Coaster

Ride the thrilling roller coaster down Snow King Mountain.

Head to a city park and play on swings

There is a park with swings, slides, and more right in town on the corner of Deloney and Milward. For something a little more unique, head to R-Park, which is located on the western banks of the Snake River. You'll find trails and access to slow moving water right along the river.

Stagecoach Ride on Town Square

Head to the south side of the Jackson Town Square and look for the small wooden shack that says “Stagecoach Rides.” Hop in a horse drawn carriage and tour the town.

Wildlife Art Museum

This museum offers something for all ages with a number of displays, artwork, movies, and a fun kid's corner. The museum also hosts events like Family Fun Days and a Summer Film Series.

Redneck Riviera

Grab a beach towel and head to Jackson's very own Redneck Riviera. If it's a warm day, you'll see a bunch of people lounging and cooling off along the bank of the Snake River.

Water Slide

Another fun afternoon option for kids is to head to the Rec Center which is home to a huge water slide. Kids and parents will have a blast at this indoor pool and fun center.

JH History Museum

The Jackson History Museum really crams a lot of interesting exhibits into a small space. Check out all the blockbuster movies that feature Jackson, as well as a huge stuffed bison. They have a small store that offers unique gifts and souvenirs as well.

Entertainment/Evening

Kid Friendly Restaurants in Jackson

Jackson is filled with many great places to eat. Take a look at all Jackson Restaurant Menus. The Bunnery, Bubbas BBQ, Merry Piglets, Dornan's Pizza & Pasta, Mountain High Pizza Pie, Q Roadhouse, Sidewinders Bar & Grill are great choices for dining out with the whole family.

Enjoy dinner and a play at the JH Playhouse. Kids will be entertained from dinner through the performance. Tickets sell out quickly so book ahead.

Saturday Night Rodeo

This is a must for all Jackson visitors and is great for all ages. Kids are invited into the arena in the middle of the show for fun activities. Grab dinner in the stands: hot dogs, popcorn, and soda.
