Jackson Hole Alpine Slide, Snow King Resort

What better way to utilize a chair lift in the summer time than to access a giant slide winding 2500 feet down Snow King mountain. The alpine slide and other family activities are the perfect way to spend the day and are sure to put a smile on every face.

Whether you are 2 or 72, a trip down the alpine slide is a fun experience for just about anyone. Located at the Snow King Resort in the heart of Jackson Hole the Alpine Slide winds 2,500 feet down Snow King Mountain. The trip begins with a leisurely ride up the ‘blue and yellow’ chairlift where you can watch the riders from above and plan your strategy. At the top of the chairlift, a photographer will catch a shot of you with the Grand Tetons in the background. From there, you hop off the chair, and grab a sled that is equipped with a hand brake so that you control your speed, or lack thereof, depending on the level of thrill you are seeking.

Kids 2-6 must be accompanied by an adult and two fits easily on a sled. Once the attendant sees that the slide in front of you is clear, you are on your way. The slide is curved concavely in a way that cradles the sled and turns are banked so that the sled can ride high should you choose to take the corners with some speed. Twisting and turning, the sled rides smoothly to the bottom where the ride comes to an end. There is a bridge just above the finish line that makes a great photo spot to snap action shots.

Single ride passes are available as well as punch passes that save you a few bucks. In addition to the slide, the family fun area at Snow King also includes:

• Bungee Trampoline – three trampolines equipped with bungee harnesses that propel the jumper up to 24 feet in the air. Jump high enough to see the town of Jackson and outlying National Elk Refuge or practice your front and back flips.
• Alpine Mini Golf – located next to the slide, the 18-hole course is terraced on the hillside adjacent to ponds and waterfalls. Each time the ball rolls into a hole, it appears on the next hole…this course is perfect for everyone.
• Scenic Chair rides to the Top – enjoy a 20 minute ride up the ‘black’ chairlift that will take you up 1,571 feet to the top of Snow King Mountain. Enjoy views of five mountain ranges up to 50 miles on clear days, a picnic and a walk around the nature trail.

A Snow King Fun Pass can also be purchased which includes one ride on the slide, one game of mini golf, one bungee jump and one scenic chair ride.  If you have some kids that really need to burn some energy, unlimited fun passes may also be purchased which provide unlimited access to all of the family fun activities.
