Climbing / Mountaineering
Sooner or later, almost everyone in the climbing community visits the Tetons and ascends one or more of the high peaks. Unlike other mountain ranges, the Tetons rise abruptly as much as 7,000 feet from the flat plains of Jackson Hole and culminate in the 13,770 foot summit of the Grand Teton. For general mountaineering of an alpine nature with excellent rock, there is perhaps no climbing area in the country that can match the Tetons. This provides an excellent training ground for the novice as well as the vast majority of climbers seeking enjoyable and challenging routes. Mountain guides are available for hire, and most guides have played a key role in pioneering new routes throughout the world.
