Idaho's Snake River has a rafting and fishing hotspot called the South Fork, which sits in the beautiful Swan Valley, offering excellent spots for fishing and rafting trips, calm waters and then sudden torrents of whitewater. In fact, it is popular amongst many locals and excellent guides can provide the best spots for both sports and are highly recommended.
Rafting has long since been popular at the South Fork. Swift moving currents stretch throughout the river, but rafters have to be exceptionally experienced and cautious as certain spots provide hidden dangers and there is a risk of running too close to the nearby dam.
Fly fishing is as popular as it ever was on the South Fork. Fishermen can enjoy miles of river with deep channels, slick runoffs and deepening pools. In fact, the fork is a haven for many cutthroats, brownies and rainbow trout, all of which can be quite substantial in size.
Many fishermen go to the Snake River's South Fork for lengthier trips. Moving closer to its one end where volcanic rock formations and forests are predominant. In fact, there are many locations that are perfect there for wading.
