The Gros Ventre River is situated outside of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, providing a fishing season from April through to October annually. The best fishing is done from July to October when the waters have calmed, cleared and are deep enough for fish to swim through.

Though the main fish found in the Gros Ventre are cutthroat, smaller numbers of whitefish and rainbow trout are also available. However, most fishermen find that fishing around lunch time provides the best opportunity to catch fish.

The Gros Ventre River fishing spots are best reached via the Gros Ventre Road that exits Grand Teton National Park. Just outside the park is a parking lot with easy access to the river. However, wading is not recommended as the river's current is very strong in places and the bottom can be fairly unstable.
