Greys River

The Greys River is situated near the Wyoming border with Idaho, not far from Alpine. It runs about fifty five miles, flowing gently in the Palisades Reservoir. It has become the recreation spot for many fishermen, offering varied access locations with plenty of camping and boating spots for longer fishing trips.

Fishing in the Greys River in Wyoming is very popular. It is close to Alpine on the border with Idaho and has many hot spots for fishing, as well as easy access for boat launching. Various campgrounds are located along its fifty-five mile stretch, allowing for private fishing trips, as well as fishing tour adventures.

Fly fishing is one of the most common forms of fishing done at the Greys River. The best time for fishing there is in June when the river is clear, less deep and calmer. In fact, it has many spots that are suitable for setting up lines, with rocky outcrops, but fishermen need to watch for whitewater sections which can prove very dangerous and though filled with plenty of fish, they are not worth the risk.

Though the Greys River can be fished from a boat, many local fishermen prefer old style wading, giving them access to spots that boats cannot get into. In fact, it is in the hidden and silent pockets of water that fishermen can catch fish that are from twelve or more inches, including trout and cutthroat.
