Wyoming is home to the Fitzpatrick Wilderness which was designated in 1976. Its beauty is beyond compare, studded by the Wind River Mountains, miles of trails, meadows, lakes and other spots of interest. It wildlife is varied, drawing in many folk who enjoy a range of activities from wild life watching to hunting.

The Fitzpatrick Wilderness Area is located in western Wyoming, covering over one hundred and ninety-eight acres of grand landscapes. It is almost always frost covered and provides year round activities and things to see for many visitors.

The wilderness has some forty-four actively moving glaciers, one of which is over a thousand acres in size. It sits on the Continental Divide's eastern side with towering mountains, limestone and granite rocks, plateaus, lush meadows and miles of prime forests. Deep canyons cradle rivers and bubbling streams.

The Fitzpatrick Wilderness is a haven for wildlife with crystal clear lakes and over seventy-five miles of varied streams that house an abundance of trout. In fact, this frosty and snowy area attracts hunters and fishermen from across the world. Other visitors come to see the coyotes, bobcats, black bears, bighorn sheep, moose, deer and elk. Popular recreation throughout the year includes horse packing, backpacking, climbing, stargazing, hiking, bird watching, rafting, canoeing and kayaking. Interestingly enough, the Fitzpatrick is highly regarded for horse riding trips.
