Music Director Donald Runnicles is delighted that our audience has embraced a weekend of baroque programming in recent Festival seasons, no doubt due to the acclaimed guest conductors Runnicles brings to Walk Festival Hall to lead these lively programs. This season, Bernard Labadie will continue the tradition of excellence in leadership. "The standard has been set very high with Maestro McGegan and Maestro Goodman, which is why I am thrilled that Maestro Labadie follows in such distinguished footsteps," stated Runnicles. A perfect piece for summertime, George Frideric Handel's Water Music was written for an occasion on the River Thames for King George I and will be presented by the Festival Orchestra among the bends and curves of our very own Snake River. Continuing the baroque weekend tradition of pairing an exceptionally fine guest conductor with exemplary guest soloists, the Festival welcomes critically acclaimed Hungarian mezzo-soprano Krisztina Szabó. She brings her supreme musicianship and stage presence to Walk Festival Hall for selected arias from Handel's Agrippina and Ariodante.
