In the first of his four weekend programs, Music Director Donald Runnicles continues his tradition of opening each season with a work of Beethoven, selecting one of the great composer's "sunniest" symphonies.  What better way to open our season to the joys of summertime than with Beethoven's 8th Symphony?   In this blockbuster weekend, Maestro Runnicles also brings his operatic expertise to the Tetons, pairing Beethoven with the equally colossal Richard Wagner.  Presently serving as General Music Director of Deutsche Oper Berlin and having recently completed a 16- year tenure as Music Director and Principle Conductor of the San Francisco Opera by conducting his critically acclaimed version of the Ring Cycle, Maestro Runnicles is proud to present three of opera's top vocal artists on the stage of Walk Festival Hall for excerpts from Wagner's iconic work– Die Walküre.   Tenor Stuart Skelton sings the role of Siegmund along with soprano Heidi Melton as Brünnhilde and Sieglinde and baritone Donnie Ray Albert as Wotan.
