Anything goes in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. On the street, in the shops, and in the restaurants, saloons and bars, you will see people in casual clothes or luxurious outfits. So when planning your vacation to Jackson, planning what to bring is more dependent on the season and your personal preference than any type of norm in the area. Also, consider what you plan to do while you are here.
Jackson, Wyoming is located at the south end of Grand Teton National Park and is in close proximity to Yellowstone National Park. A great little community with an interesting western history, Jackson is now the place to visit to enjoy great outdoor opportunities. The exact clothing you bring depends upon the season and what you plan to do while here.
Essentials to bring in the summer include comfortable hiking boots or shoes, a sun hat or baseball cap, sun glasses, insect and tick repellent, and binoculars - if you intend to view wildlife or do some bird watching. In the winter, you will need warm clothes and a good winter coat, hat and gloves/mittens. And don't forget your camera!
Summer activities include golf, hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, fishing, and general exploring. In the winter, you can be entertained by any number of snow related activities including skiing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling, and sledding/tubing. Depending on your mode of transportation, you may want to bring your sports or adventure gear along or you can plan to rent the required equipment from the various retailers and rental outlets in the area. Even if you failed to pack some needed clothing, toiletries or other gear, you can get these items at various shops around town.
