The National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming, began in 1987 on the Town Square. But by 1992, it outgrew its storefront space and moved to a state-of-the-art building with over 51,000 square feet of space for the exhibitions and programs ongoing here.
On a cliff overlooking the National Elk Refuge, the building seems to come from the earth itself, capturing the natural beauty of the surroundings. It blends right in with the red sandstone terrain as it pays tribute to animals in their natural habitat.
There are fourteen galleries for exhibitions and one interactive children's gallery. With a café, member's lounge and even classrooms and a 200-seat auditorium, the National Museum of Wildlife Art has everything you would want in a museum of this kind. The art is spectacular, with over one hundred artists represented. These range from artists in early American tribes to those contemporary artists devoted to nature.
