Jackson Hole History Museum
The Jackson Hole History Museum boasts different exhibits that can't be passed up when traveling through the Jackson Hole area of Wyoming. These displays highlight the historic times of Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Jackson Hole Valley. This is a trip back in time with both permanent and changing exhibits to enjoy.
Beginning in 1958 as a private history museum, Jackson Hole History Museum housed the incredible collection of W. C. "Slim" Lawrence, created over a lifetime. This collection features over 12,000 artifacts, including fur-trade-era firearms and tools, Native American pottery and other weapons. The museum today has expanded the focus to include more history of Jackson Hole as well as of the nearby national parks of Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
Currently having about 3,000 feet of space for the displays, the original setting for the museum was the old Pap Deloney store, provided by one of Slim's friends for exhibiting the collection. You can see this fabulous museum in downtown Jackson, at 105 North Glenwood Street, just a block from the Town Square. They're open beginning on Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day each year, Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.
