In the summer vacationers explore the backcountry of Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park as well as the National Elk Refuge.
You will see the mighty peaks of the Tetons, pushed skyward by violent activity within the earth more than 9 million years ago. It was so sudden and with such force that you'll find no foothills at the base, although you will discover beautiful lakes that reflect the magnificence of these high mountains. Explore around the Snake River, which runs through Jackson Lake and exits the dam to head rushing through a gorge carved from glaciers.
